sticks and stones

we did some yard work the other day. maddox did some good work breaking sticks.

little ones were easy:

Big sticks were harder to break:

He also did some work to see what would fit in this little hole. The big rock would not fit:

but his finger would fit:

and so did the little stick:

then it was time for a break:

Whew! That was a lot of hard work!!

Sweet Sleep

All day long Maddox played my last freaking nerve. "Waa waa waa." Drove me crazy and couldn't wait for him to go to sleep. But then.............

I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

PEEK-A-BOO has enjoyed a bit of a comeback these days.

And, despite the obvious enthusiasm,
Maddox finally ate his broccoli last night.

ROOOOOARRRR!

Today I bought Maddox some little animals. Grandma taught him that all animals make some sort of sound. Maddox has assigned a raspy growl to all of them. Still, they were not nearly as totally awesome as the box!

Books: they aren't just for reading

Today Maddox learned that books aren't just for reading.
He took them all off the shelf and stood them up all around him like a fort.

Then he was going for the books on the top shelf, but I said he couldn't. He didn't like that.

The Animal Fair

Sunday, September 30. The petting zoo was the highlight of the fair for Maddox. We walked through the rows of prize winning chickens and ducks and other fowl. The geese were a favorite because they were big and at ground level.

Better late than never?

2007 has been a hard year. Maddox has been the only unconditional joy for me. Somehow, I struggle to find the time to even jot down the little things that happen from day to day, yet I always have time to check my email. Anyway, hoping to catch some of these precious moments in the form of a blog.
